Trust….

Family and friends are important parts of a person’s life. They act as companions in our voyage through life. With them we experience and share many things. We learn how to love, tolerate, laugh, joke and be a normal functioning human being.

The learning process is a wonderful thing except at the times when the learning process is hurts and painful. This so-called process tortures me emotionally and mentally because my current mentality struggle to go through such painful processes. One thing that could break me and hurts me deeply is broken trust.

I have this experience since I was a little boy. I have my best buddy; we go through everything together and even break the rules together. We are so close that we shared our secrets and I told him about a girl I have crush in. Unexpectedly he told everyone about it which makes me embarrassed and awkward in front of the girl. She eventually hates me out of the blue. My heart deeply wounded because my trust was broken. Trust is not for a cheap person, I only realized that after all those things happened.

This leaf a scar in my heart and it is so deep that I choose to be careful from that on. Because being too open to someone expose you to vulnerabilities and I am had enough of that. But as I grow older and experienced a lot of things, I begin to see things in a different perspective; people make mistakes and my buddy also make mistakes as I am. He has changed though. He even apologised. So I think it is worth to give him a second chance. Even though I never see him the way I looked at him before. Well, do not blame me, I just learnt from my mistakes.

Dreams

Dreams. Our dream is our pure soul reflection, which contain our hidden nature and the darkest side of us. But dreams are reality those put limitation to our senses, making us thwart from impossible to possible.

I often have strange dreams. There is one time I dreamt about a talking mouse; it set up traps to trap me. It even blackmailed me and chased me with it tiny sword. I run with all my strength without knowing where am I heading to. At last when I was trapped in a dimension which has no end and no nothing I close my eyes, imagine some nice place and teleported. Well this dream does not indicate any meaning to me. It might reflect my soul but when I told a friend of mine about this dreams, he told me that it is a childish dreams. Then what does a childish dream get to do anything about my soul reflection?

Things I love about dreams are I feel no pain physically even if I get beaten terribly and I can teleport myself to any place and be anyone I want. Those are things that impossible in real life but made possible in dreams. And things I hate about dreams are I can get hurt and feel pain emotionally and mentally. For example, I have a nightmare in which I cannot change and cannot escape like I was drowned and suffocated, after woke up I will feel terrible and mentally and emotionally hurts. Those feelings are real and it really leaves a deep pain in memories.

But someone always reminds me that anything bad happened in our dreams are not real and it does not happens in reality, so smile and be happy. We hold our own key to happiness; never let anything or anyone took that key away from you.

Rungus Traditional Food

As I told you before, I am half Murut and half Rungus. But I am more exposed to Rungus traditions and language. I sometimes shame of not knowing my father’s native language. Anyway, today I am going to share about Rungus Traditional Foods.

Tinopuru
 

Tinopuru is a dish made of fish. Steamed fish. You can use any kind of fish to make Tinopuru. I love this dish because I love to eat fish compared to chicken and any kind of meats.

 Linugu Soguntung

This dish is made of eggplant. It is roasted, crushed and then fried with eggs. It is one of my favourites and I only eat eggplant when it is prepared as Linugu Soguntung.

Tinopis

Tinopis is actually a kind of pancakes. It is prepared in Rungus style and served during tea time.

Sinamu
 

Sinamu is a fermented food. It is so similar to Dusun traditional food, Bosou. But Sinamu can be prepared using fruits or meats or rice or just mix it all. I honestly do not eat Sinamu because of it pungent smell.

Bintanok

This is one of my favourites. IT made of grated corn mixed with sugar then steamed.

Those all are top five Rungus traditional foods. Some are my favourites and least favourites. If you got the chance to taste this food you should give it a try. :3

Stay slim and slender

I have a friend who since three years ago her body stay slim and slender. I have asked her about her secret and she shared her secret of staying slim! Okay do not get too excited, first of all she told me that there are 8 types of body shapes. Well, for women of course.

There are eight body types for women, straight, pear, spoon, hourglass, top hourglass, oval, inverted triangle and diamond body types.

She told me that the secret to maintain slim are;

Diet

She has told me that a proper diet is important. She herself follows the Japanese diet. Well as an Asian the Western style of diet is not suitable for us, she told me. And when I come to think about it she is right. You can search in Google to know more about Japanese diet.

Exercises

Exercising is important to stay slim. She prefers walking as her exercising method. When I asked her why she does not choose jogging she explained that walking burns more calories compared to any other exercise method. Walking on the flat ground does not build any bulky muscles.

After listening to her, I try my best to follow the Japanese diet. It did work! I mean Japanese diet helps you to have a good metabolism! But I do not last very long in following this diet. It does not hard it just I do not have the discipline to follow everything. I guess I will just be me.

Ice cream recipe

I love eating.

I’m a big fan of cakes and ice creams. I love cheese flavour for cake and mint flavour for ice creams. But I have tried cakes combine with ice creams and its heavens!! The way the ice cream melts in my mouth, mint flavour combined with plain cake with cheese topping…oh it is so delicious and I could not get enough of it! I do not know the easy way to bake a cake and I only know where to buy ice creams. But today I’m going to tell you a simple recipe of fresh mint chocolate chip ice cream.

                

Ingredients

2 cups loosely packed mint leaves

2 cups plus 2 tablespoons whole milk

1 1/4 cups heavy cream

2/3 cup sugar

4 tablespoons cornstarch

3 tablespoons cream cheese, room temperature

Kosher salt 1 

3.5-ounce chocolate bar

Directions

Wash and drain mint leaves. Bruise the leaves using so that they soften and release some of their oil. Set aside.

Combine 2 cups of whole milk, heavy cream, and sugar in a medium saucepan. Heat over medium/high heat, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat. Add the mint leaves to the warm milk. Cover and let steep for 25 minutes, then strain out the leaves.

In a small glass, combine 2 tablespoons of milk and the cornstarch. Stir vigorously to create slurry, and then stir slurry into the mint-milk mixture.

Return saucepan to the heat and bring to a boil. Let boil for 1 minute, stirring frequently, until it begins to thicken. Remove from heat.

Stir together the cream cheese and a pinch of salt in a large bowl. Add the hot milk mixture and whisk until fully combined. Cover and chill in the refrigerator until cool.

While the base is chilling, chop the chocolate bar into small pieces. Place chocolate chunks in a plastic bag and chill in the freezer until ready to use.

When base is completely cool add it to an ice cream maker and process according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Stir in the chilled chocolate pieces. Transfer to an airtight container and freeze for at least 2 hours before serving.

I found this recipe while browsing through ice cream recipe. I like this recipe because it use natural mint leaves to blend the mint flavour in the ice cream. Well I am sometimes picky in foods but that is just precautions to prevent from food poisoning. I hope you guys really try this recipe and enjoy your ice cream!

The most expensive fish in Malaysia

There is one of my friends who do not eat fish.

He is just allergic to it. After eating fish no matter how tiny he ate, his body begin to reject it and he will started to throw up, got stomach ache, and having fever. Well I am not going to talk about allergic but about fishes.

In Malaysia there are three types of fishes listed as the most expensive.

Empurau

Normally, Empurau fish will be sold at price like RM550 per kilogram. This kind of fish could only found in Sarawak. Not long ago, this fish is sold at RM2000 per kilogram in Kuching.

What makes this fish so expensive? This fish taste sweet, and delicate in texture and this is because this fish only eat “Engkabang Fruit”.

Jelawat

Jelawat also has sweet taste and only eat fruits but this fish is cheaper than Empurau. The price range is about RM300-RM350 per kilogram.

Semah

Semah came from the family of Tor Lebeobarbus. And this fish can only be found in Borneo rainforest. It also tastes sweet and sold at RM300 per kilogram.

So what do you think? I get the chance to catch this fish and I got it, I probably just eat it because it tastes sweet. Moreover, I love to eat fish!

My favourite movie

Do you have favourite movie?

I have mine. It’s a movie directed by James Gunn. It is called “The Guardian of the Galaxy”. I have watched this movie several times. It is entertaining and never gets old. I love the concept used in this movie. It is an action movies plus comedy with the blend of country songs from the beginning to the end of the story. Much expected from the director, James Gunn himself because he is also a writer, producer and musician. This makes this movie a huge success with rating, 8.2/10.

What makes this movie more interesting was the strong personalities in each of the main character themselves.

Peter Quill a.k.a Star Lord

He is the only human (half) in this movie. There are thousands kind of aliens in this movie and Peter Quill human nature is the most outstanding of all. He helps even in difficult times (He saved Gamora even though he knows it will cost his life.) He is also quite a strategist which makes him escaped in every difficulty he faces. Well I know this personality is a cliché personality in protagonist but this is what makes this movie has a good rating. But from Peter’s characters/personalities, the director is actually trying to say that human is the best in every aspects compared to any living creature/aliens in the universe.

Gamora

She’s a lady that with the so-called woman personalities, loud, sarcastic, always wants to win but deep down she has a soft heart. As always woman voice is put secondary after man. But once a woman speaks everyone will listen. Gamora is more likely a second leader in the guardian team. This is because in every difficult situation which needs someone to start, Gamora will stand up and start everything. (She is the first one who stood up and agrees to help Star Lord in attacking the antagonist ship. Hold Star Lord hand to bear the destruction power of the stone.)

 Drax the Destroyer

One of the guardians. In my opinion he is tough, strong, and arrogant but a bit dumb yet he has a soft heart and appreciates his companions/comrades. From this character, as if the director is trying to say that no matter how bad a person is, there is always a good side of that person. But this also means the opposite. Drax is also an example that what past is passed and to live we must see and believe that in every circumstance there is always light that bright your tomorrow.

Groot

Groot is something from tree-species-human-like. I honestly do not know what to call him. But Groot has a character of naïve, soft and he is full of surprises which surprise me a lot. But this also makes me think about lots of conflicts and questions. How can someone with naïve and soft hearted character have the guts to stand up and kill and hurt people around?

Rocket

Rocket is a raccoon, well in their world the word "raccoon" does not exist. But Rocket is once human. Interesting about Rocket is he is genius in making and modifying things out of metal, he is small, but good in fighting and surprisingly he get sensitive and emotional when it comes to insulting his personalities. (He got angry when Drax called him "vermin". He even tried to kill Drax.)

Well I guess that is all for now. I only select few character and all are the guardians. Their differences in personalities completed each and one another flaw. This teach me that we need to appreciate ourselves more because nobody has the same talent as you are and remember, whenever we want something that we do not have, tell yourself that there is always someone wants what you have too.
